Skiing vs. Snowboarding

Skiing vs. Snowboarding
Persuasive Speech Assessment

Why would you ever snowboard? Skiing is clearly a far better sport. Skiers have so many more advantages. For one, skiers can travel on a larger variety of terrains. They can traverse across both flat and uphill surfaces with little strain. Pulling with your poles and skating are two techniques which allow skiers to do this. On the other hand, snowboarders can only awkwardly hop or unstrap one of their legs to push themselves. This is timely and causes a loss of momentum.

Next, when riding ski lifts, skiers can easily slide right onto the chairs. Snowboarders must stop and unstrap one foot to push them onto the lift. Then, at the top, they must prop their butts on the freezing snow and do the strap up again. This can take some snowboarder’s minutes. What a pain!

According to the National Ski Areas Association, snowboarders are 70% more likely to get injured. Some boarders may argue that their sport is less expensive but it is not worth all the difficulties that come along with it. Don’t even waste your time, become a skier!
